Cat harvesting poopApril is hoop month…March is poop month.  We started preparing the hoop house for planting by “harvesting” alpaca manure from their communal pile and fortifying the soil.   Alpaca manure has a NPK ratio of 1.7 – 0.69 – 1.2, making it one of the most nutrient-rich manures available for gardening.

We start planting with some cold hardy plants – cabbage & onions, and end the month with some more sensitive plants – peppers, beans and tomatoes.   All our seedlings are started under grow lights as early as late February.

Once the hoop is planted, it will be time to start conditioning the outside garden in May.   Luckily the raspberries are already rocking!   They love the paca poop too!   Somewhere in the middle, the alpaca will be shorn.   Busy, Busy, Busy!
